TOYOTA Motor Phils. School of Technology (TMP Tech) recently produced 176 graduates from its two-year Toyota General Job Automotive Servicing Course.
Adhering to strict health and safety protocols, members of Batches 12 and 13 who completed the program for classes of 2021 and 2022 graced the school’s commencement rites held inside TMP’s industrial complex in Santa Rosa City, Laguna.
The course follows the prescribed curriculum of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda), where students undertook the agency’s National Certification 1 to 4, equivalent to pro-technician level of the globally known Toyota Education Automotive Mastery for the 21st Century training program, or TEAM21.
To further enhance their competencies, learners also had an immersive on-the-job training at local Toyota dealerships.
Tesda Region 4A Regional Director Toni June Tamayo cited TMP Tech’s resilience amid the Covid-19 pandemic and its initiatives to pursue its mission to provide Filipino youth with quality automotive education.
At the onset of the health crisis, the premiere automotive technical-vocational (tech-voc) institution has adapted with the new normal of training by applying blended learning modality for language programs and theoretical courses like Toyota-specific principles and global standards.
Such effort earned TMP Tech recognition from the agency for its competent tech-voc education provision.
“Last year Tesda recognized TMP Tech for being a ‘Center for Technical Proficiency,’ and [was the sole recipient of the agency’s] ‘Two Stars Award’ among tech-voc institutions nationwide,” Tamayo said in his keynote at the graduation ceremony.
The school’s strong industry connections enable it to adopt new methodologies and upgrade its level of training.
TMP Tech recently tied up with TMP Foundation and Colombo Plan Staff College for the future conduct and hosting of technical professional training for representatives of more than 20 CPSC member-countries, including TMP Tech trainers.
The partnership also supports the further development of tech-voc education training systems, or TVET, in the Philippines and the Asia-Pacific Region.
Toyota Motor Corp. Honorary Chairman Dr. Shoichiro Toyota and TMP Founding Chairman Dr. George S.K. Ty jointly established TMP Tech as a world-class training center that hones Filipino youth in becoming highly competent automotive professionals for the car manufacturer’s network.
Since it started operations in 2013 the school has produced more than 1,500 graduates from different automotive courses.
