The first day of enrollment period for school year (SY) 2022-2023 was a success, reaching a total of 3.3 million students, an official of the Department of Education (DepEd) said on Tuesday.
“Maganda ang ating turnout [We have a good turnout],” DepEd spokesperson Michael Tan Poa said in an interview over ABS-CBN’s Teleradyo.
This figure, Poa said, is way higher as number compared to the 222,000 that enrolled in the same period in 2021. He attributed the high turnout to the information campaign of the DepEd.
He said that DepEd is expecting 28.6 million learners to enroll from kindergarten to senior high school for this SY.
This year, DepEd has allowed the in-person enrollment.
DepEd added that “remote enrollment” through phone calls, text messages, online messaging through Facebook messenger, Viber and email messaging and “enrollment through drop box are still being accepted.
