A Catholic archbishop called on newly sworn-in President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. not to fail the people, especially those who supported him.
Archbishop Marlo Peralta of Nueva Segovia in Ilocos Sur, in a Radio Veritas interview, urged Marcos to prioritize public welfare above everything in his administration.
“Please, Mr. President, do not fail them,” Peralta said, “especially those who are struggling every day to meet the needs of their families.”
“I pray that you’re always aware that the majority of the Filipino people are poor and they look up to you to uplift their lives,” he said.
The archbishop also assured his prayers for the success of the Marcos administration.
“With sincerity and good will, I pray that you’ll succeed in your presidency,” Peralta added.
