WILLING to wait.
This was the sentiment of Elizabeth Edora, 64, one of the hundreds of supporters of President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos, Jr. who flocked to the golf club area in Intramuros, Manila early Thursday morning.
Clad in a red and green shirt, the campaign color of Marcos and his running mate vice-president elect Sara Z. Duterte, Edora proudly said she left her home in Caloocan as early as 1 am to find a prime spot to watch the inauguration of Marcos.
“I was not able to sleep due to the excitement (from attending the ceremony). I don’t mind it even if had to spent for the trip as long as I can see him take his oath,” Edora said.
A self-professed Marcos loyalist, Edora said she voted for Marcos’s father, Ferdinand E. Marcos, Sr.
“During his (Marcos Sr.) term, you will not be afraid to go out of your home due to drug addicts and rapists,” Edora said.
She said such peace and order situation did not persist in the administration, which followed Marcos until the term of President Rodrigo R. Duterte.
Edora said she is hopeful Marcos will continue the “legacy” of his father and Duterte.
She said she campaigned for Marcos Jr’s presidential bid in the May 9, 2022 polls, starting to campaign since last September.
Marcos won the elections with over 31 million votes.
Of the campaign promises made by Marcos, she is looking forward to his vow to stabilize the soaring prices of food and electricity and generate more employment opportunities.
But she noted she does not expect the promises to be fulfilled anytime soon.
“We know such promises will not be immediately realized. It is not like a touchscreen, where you can have the things you want with just a swipe,” Edora said.
“We are willing to wait for it,” she added.
