THE Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) welcomed the multi-entertainment leisure, entertainment and gaming solutions OKBet as part of its growing family.
The MPBL and OKBet announced their partnership in a news conference at the Grand Ballroom of the Okada Manila on Sunday with Senator Manny Pacquiao delivering a video message from his hometown in General Santos City and league commissioner Kenneth Duremdes representing the league.
“We are happy to have OKBet as part of our MPBL family. The past two years have been a very challenging time for the MPBL and had to postpone the fourth regular season in light of the recent pandemic,” Duremdes said. “But through this partnership with OKBet, we are making a big comeback to showcase the best in the league.”
Duremdes also said league founder Pacquiao aims not just to provide opportunities for the players but to inspire basketball fans during these challenging times.
The MPBL confirmed that the OKBet will be its title sponsor for the fourth regular season this year with Xtreme Philippines as co-presenter.
Robert Chen, OKBet vice president for marketing and business development, said the company chose the MPBL as a partner to nurture good sportsmanship and camaraderie.
“The Philippines is a basketball-loving nation. We can see the Filipinos’ passion for the sport in every corner of the country with basketball hoops standing tall at each end of the court,” said Chen, who will be supporting the General Santos City Warriors, Sarangani Marlins and Marikina Shoesmasters.
“We see the value of partnering with the MPBL and we want to empower our athletes to help them realize and reach their full potential,” he added. “This is our way of supporting the growth of future world-class Filipino sports champions.”
OKBet and Duremdes added that the league is working together with the Games Amusements Boardto keep the league’s integrity during games.
