THE Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) celebrates the success of the national team in the recent 31st Southeast Asian Games in Vietnam by featuring the gold medal-winning dancesport duo of Stephanie Sabalo and Michael Angelo Marquez in a special episone of “Rise Up! Shape Up!” on Saturday.
The episode will showcase the graceful movements of Sabalo and Marquez as they lead a dancesport clinic with women of all ages in a small community in Bay, Laguna.
The Sabalo-Marquez tandem won the country’s first gold medal in Vietnam when they topped the Latin Cha Cha event while clinching silvers in Latin Jive and Five Dances.
The tandem also won a gold medal in the Five Dances Latin and Paso Doble in the Philippines 2019 SEA Games and clinched silver in the Kaunas Open in Lithuania. T
Women in Sports Oversight Commissioner Celia Kiram thanked Sabalo and Marquez for heeding the PSC’s request.
“It means a lot that they’re sharing their expertise in dancesport because it is one way of inspiring young girls and women to enjoy the sport,” Kiram said. “This is a way to introduce the sport on the ground as well as show Philippine sports excellence in action.”
Kiram will share interesting and fun facts on dance in her regular segment “K-Isport.”
