ADAMSON University hardly broke a sweat in clinching its sixth win in University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 84 women’s volleyball action—a25-17, 25-17, 25-16 domination of Far Eastern University (FEU)—on Tuesday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Setter Louie Romero orchestrated the offense for the Lady Falcons with 17 excellent sets that produced four double-digit scorers in the match that lasted for one hour and 26 minutes. She also had three points in the contest.
Trisha Genesis led the Lady Falcons’ scoring barrage with 14 points to go with nine excellent receptions while May Ann Nique had 12 points and nine digs. Rizza Cruz and Kate Santiago chipped in 11 points each.
Cruz landed a booming ace to put the Lady Falcons ahead by 11, 18-7, in the third set. The Lady Tamaraws sliced the deficit to seven after a hit from Julia Monares, but it was not enough as Trisha Genesis and Cruz put on the finishing touches.
It was a tough outing for FEU, who converted only 30 attacks and one block compared to Adamson University’s 50 and seven, respectively. It was the Lady Tamaraws’ sixth consecutive loss and ninth in 10 games.
“We prepared hard for this win,” said head coach Lerma Giron whose Lady Falcons sent the Lady Tamaraws to the brink of elimination.
Chen Tagaod led the FEU with 14 points while Shiela Kiseo added eight points, 11 excellent receptions and six excellent digs.
