MALACAÑANG said it will soon start the transition process for the next administration following the proclamation of President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos, Jr. and Vice President-elect Sara Duterte-Carpio on Wednesday.
In a brief statement, Acting Presidential Spokesperson Martin M. Andanar said they will provide the necessary support to Marcos’ administration.
“The Office of the President shall ensure a peaceful, orderly and smooth transfer of powers to the President-elect as we extend all the necessary support and assistance to various transition activities,” Andanar said.
President Duterte earlier issued Administrative Order No. 47 creating the Presidential Transition Committee (PTC) to ensure there will be no disruption in government service during the said transition process.
Andanar said they are just waiting for the proclamation of the newly elected president before the PTC starts its activities.
The Palace official welcomed the proclamation of Marcos and Carpio, who will start their six-year terms next month.
“Today’s proclamation ceremony by Congress marks another historic milestone in our political life as a nation, underscoring that we are, indeed, a showcase and beacon of democracy in this part of the world,” Andanar said.
“As both leaders are about to embark on the responsibilities and challenges of their respective offices, we reiterate our call for our people to stand behind our newly elected leaders,” he added.
In a related development, Andanar also welcomed the forthcoming return of Atty. Rose Beatrix “Trixie” Cruz-Angeles, who will be succeeding him as head of PCOO under the Marcos administration.
“Atty. Angeles is no stranger to PCOO having served the office during the early years of the Duterte Administration,” Andanar said.
“We wish Atty. Angeles all the best in her latest assignment,” he added.
