The Congress, sitting as the National Board of Canvassers, on Wednesday ended the canvassing of votes for president and vice president—the fastest canvassing in the history of the elections in the Philippines.
The NBOC is set to proclaim the duly elected President and duly elected Vice President this afternoon.
The NBOC started the canvassing at 10am on Tuesday and ended at around 3:30pm on Wednesday.
Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. garnered a total of 31,629,783 votes while Sara Duterte received 32,208,417. The NBOC canvassed 171 out of 173 COCs from different cities and provinces in the country and votes from Philippine posts in other countries.
Rep. Boying Remulla said the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has certified the two foreign service posts that conducted elections, Bunos Aires, Argentina and Syria but results have not arrived.
With this, Remulla moved to terminate the canvassing of votes for the Presidential and VP race as the 2 remaining COCs will not affect the results of the elections.
