THE Department of Budget and Management (DBM) said it has disbursed P1.081 billion to the Department of Health (DOH) for payment of sickness and death benefit claims of public and private health-care workers and non-HCWs who have contracted or may contract Covid-19 this year.
The DBM said in a statement last Sunday that the funds were charged against the regular allotment for the DOH under the 2022 national budget.
The DBM said compensation will be transferred by the DOH to DOH-retained and corporate hospitals, DOH Treatment and Rehabilitation Centers, and Centers for Health Development, among other attached agencies and institutions.
The amount of compensation to be received by eligible HCWs and non-HCWs depends on the severity of the Covid-19 case, based on Special Provision 15 of the DOH budget.
Specifically, HCWs and non-HCWs who had mild or moderate Covid infection will receive P15,000 while those who fall under severe or critical cases will be compensated with P100,000. A million peso is allotted to each family of HCWs and non-HCWs who died due to Covid.
