The Makati Business Club (MBC) congratulated presumptive president Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and vice president Sara Duterte for their victory in the 2022 elections as the country awaits the official proclamation of the newly elected government officials.
“The Filipino people have spoken and we, as well as other members of the business community, look forward to working with the incoming Administration, Congress, and local governments to build our economy and to create jobs and opportunity,” MBC said in a news statement on Friday.
MBC also commended the efforts of the other candidates, who helped produce the largest voter turnout in history.
Comelec Commissioner Marlon S. Casquejo emphasized on Monday that the local voter turnout, which is at 80.38 percent, in the recent polls is now on its way to exceeding the 81 percent in 2016, which is currently the highest. For overseas, Casquejo said voter turnout was already at 34.24 percent, which is higher than the 32 percent in 2016 polls.
The Makati Business Club also expressed gratitude towards teachers and other election officials, the election monitoring groups, volunteers and the voters who cast ballots in record numbers.
With this, MBC urged everyone to channel the energy mustered during the campaign to work together to drive the changes desired by the people to bring about greater inclusiveness, an improvement in peoples’ lives and prosperity for all.
In its statement released early this month, MBC has pledged to work with the new administration after the May 9 polls to enact policies that will expedite job creation and improve the skills and productivity that are key to sustainable growth in workers’ incomes and benefits.
The MBC is a private nonprofit business association in the Philippines founded in 1981 to promote the role of the business sector in national development efforts.
