THE nationwide search for eight women role models in sports under the Philippine Sports Commission’s (PSC) Gintong Gawad Awards 2022 is on.
The two-month countrywide search began in March and will end on April 30 or two weeks before the start of the 31st Southeast Asian Games in Vietnam.
The awardees from various sectors and the academe will be bestowed a once-in-a-lifetime recognition complete with elegantly-crafted glass trophies and cash incentives from the PSC.
PSC Women in Sports chairp Commissioner Dr. Celia Kiram will assist Chairman William “Butch” Ramirez in awarding the winners.
There are eight awards—Ina ng Isport; Babaeng Atleta, Modelo ng Kabataan; Babaeng Atleta, Modelo ng Kabataan (PWD); Babaeng Tagasanay ng Isport; Babaeng Lider ng Isport sa Kumonidad; Kaagapay ng Isport sa Kumonidad; Natatangi at Makabagong Produktong Pang- Isport; and Proyektong Isport Pang Kababaihan.
“The PSC envisioned the noble project ostensibly to give due recognition to women sports leaders for their major contribution in promoting and propagating grassroots sports in their localities,” said Kiram, also the project director of weekly web program “Rise Up, Shape Up.”
A nominator can only submit one nominee per category. Authorized nominators are provincial, city and municipal government units.
Private entities and individuals are enjoined to search and suggest nominees and coordinate with their respective local government units. A nominee may have multiple nominators.
The PSC has the right to refuse an entry, or disqualify a nominee and the judges’ decision is deemed as final.
