The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday said a total of 7,620 severe and critical cases and 6,254 Covid-19 deaths were reported from November 5,2021 to February 6, 2022 and that among the severe and critical cases 71.8 percent and 77.4 percent of the Covid-19 deaths are among unvaccinated and partially vaccinated individuals.
“Moreover, among these admissions, severe and critical symptoms are 1.63 times more likely to occur among non-fully vaccinated individuals compared to fully vaccinated individuals,” the DOH said.
Consistent with scientific evidence, the DOH stressed, Covid-19 vaccines continue to protect against severe illness and death.
“Vaccination is still the country’s long-term solution against the consequences brought about by Covid-19 pandemic,” the DOH added, stressing that when the people avail of the vaccines proven to be safe and effective made available by the government “we do not just protect ourselves, we also protect our communities.”
Meanwhile, the DOH logged 6,835 additional cases, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 3, 616,387.
There were also 16,330 recoveries and 12 deaths.
Of the total number of cases, 3.2 percent (116,720) are active, 95.3 percent (3,445,129) have recovered, and 1.51 percent (54,538) have died
