President Rodrigo R. Duterte has completed the mandatory 5-day quarantine period after being exposed to a Covid-positive staff.
Acting Presidential spokesperson Karlo B. Nograles issued the statement just only a day after announcing Duterte was quarantined following his exposure to the infected member of his household on Jan. 28, 2022.
“In the updated guidelines on the quarantine of asymptomatic close contacts of a fully vaccinated [individual],the quarantine of the President could be discontinued on February 3, 2022 which was Thursday, that was yesterday. That is the assessment of his physician.” Nograles said.
Health undersecretary Maria Rosario S. Vergeire also confirmed that the decision of the President’s doctor on the matter was in line with their quarantine protocols.
Nograles also corrected his previous statement that the President had another exposure to a Covid-19 positive patient last Sunday.
“While a member of the household staff became positive for Covid last Sunday, Jan. 30, 2022, upon assessment of the physician [of the President], cannot be considered another exposure of the President since he did not not have any close contact as per circumstances,” Nograles said.
Following the completion of his quarantine, Duterte is expected to resume his Talk to the People (TTTP), his regular public address, by next Monday, according to Nograles.
To note, Duterte was not able to conduct his TTTP this week while he was still in quarantine.
Nograles assured the President’s health remains in good condition as revealed by his recent routine medical checkup.
