The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday logged 32,744 additional Covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 3, 293,625.
There were also 16,385 recoveries and 156 deaths.
Of the 32,744 reported cases , 31,456 (96 percent) occurred within the recent 14 days (January 8 – January 21, 2022).
The top regions with cases in the recent two weeks were National Capital Region with 6,917 or 22 percent, Region 4A (6,398 or 20 percent) and Region 3 (4,122 or 13 percent).
Of the 156 deaths, 66 occurred in January 2022 (42 percent), 9 in December 2021 (6 percent), 7 in November 2021 (4 percent), 19 in October 2021 (12 percent), 27 in September 2021 (17 percent), 13 in August 2021 (8 percent), 8 in July 2021 (5 percent), 2 in June 2021 (1 percent), 2 in May 2021 (1 percent), 2 in January 2021 (1 percent), and 1 in December 2020 (1 percent) due to late encoding of death information to COVIDKaya.
This issue, th3 DOH said, is currently being coordinated with the Epidemiology and Surveillance Units to ensure information is up to date.
Of the total number of cases, 8.7 percent (291,618) are active, 89.7 percent (3,012,156) have recovered, and 1.59 percent (53,309) have died.
There were 139 duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, 82 are recoveries.
Moreover, 108 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.
All laboratories were operational on January 19, 2022 but 3 labs were not able to submit their data to the Covid-19 Document Repository System.
Based on data in the last 14 days, the 3 labs contribute, on average, 0.8 period of samples tested and 0.9 period of positive individuals.
