Manila – The Philippine Postal Corporation (Post Office) recently launched its newly-minted “Pasko 2021” postage stamps during the well-received PPO@PPO outdoor concert headlined by Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra at the historic building of the Manila Central Post Office.
With the theme “Paskong Pilipino,” the stamps depict the message of the parol Christmas lantern that gives light and connects to the collective celebration of family and friends. Close or far, everyone can still feel the Christmas spirit.
The colorful parols can be seen on the stamp, signaling the beginning of a happy and collective celebration of Pinoy Christmas.
According to Postmaster General Norman Fulgencio, “our past experiences involving natural and man-made disasters have only strengthen our resolve and guidance to grow and kept our faith in God”.
The Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO) serenaded the Manileños with a free concert presented by the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP).
As conducted by Maestro Herminigildo Ranera, the PPO interpreted traditional Christmas carols as well as songs popularized by local and international artists. Hosted by Issa Litton, the concert also showcased the talents of young soprano Alexa Kaufman and The Nightingales.
Postmaster General Fulgencio thanked the Office of the President led by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Direk Arsenio “Nick” Lizaso, President of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) and chairperson of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) for the staging of this kind of concert in the historic building as part of his advocacy to highlight culture and arts programs. The Post Office, NCCA and CCP are all under the Office of the President.
The post office building has been declared an important part of our cultural and national heritage by the National Museum of the Philippines. According to Postmaster General Fulgencio, “this historic building will serve as a backdrop to further appreciate the talent of the Filipinos who are considered as the true treasures of the country”.
Designed by in-house graphic designer Ryman Dominic Albuladora, the “Christmas Stamps”, Souvenir Sheets and First day cover envelopes can be purchased at the Manila Central Post Office Postshop in Liwasang Bonifacio.
