RECOGNIZING the greater need for electronic books and sources due to the ongoing online modalities, the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde continues to expand its virtual library, further supporting remote teaching, self-study, research or intellectual stimulation amid the lockdown.
Through its Br. Fidelis Leddy Center for Learning Resources, the college grants educators and students exclusive access to millions of e-sources such as e-books, journals, references, collections and industry reports, as well as datasets from reputable agencies in the safety and comfort of their homes.
The growing virtual database comprises more than 24 million free-to-download texts, e-books and academic journals, plus another 1.5 million free-to-lend sources from Internet Archive’s online library.
The institution has likewise subscribed to leading design authority Material ConneXion (MCX), which provides over 10,000 innovative materials from 7,000-plus global manufacturers within 75 industries—including fashion and beauty, furniture, architecture and even automotive. Founded over 20 years ago, the MCX database is curated by a team of researchers, and has a vast selection of cross-industry perspectives on design, trends and sustainability to enhance projects of corporate and independent builders.
Furthermore, the community is entitled to digital subscriptions to giant trend forecast and analytic web sites WGSN and Business of Fashion. WGSN provides an immense number of insights and inspirations on fashion, lifestyle, hospitality, interiors and retails from more than 250 trend experts and scientists around the world. BoF, on the other hand, offers a plethora of exclusive content, education courses and event summaries on the latest global headlines across luxury, beauty, retail, technology and sustainability, among many others.
The available e-resources can be seamlessly embedded by instructors into BigSky, the official learning-management system of the college, for the effective online-learning experience of students. It serves as the portal to participate in classroom discussions and access activities, as well as projects.
