Mayor Abigail Binay of the City of Makati has one great wish for Christmas: the return to normalcy. Not for the sake of big business, which has been the lifeblood of the city. But for the children of the country’s premier city, who have been kept indoors for almost two years now.
She wants the children to be back playing basketball, riding bikes, or going to school as before.
The Covid-19 pandemic changed all this, and the kids have been out of school and prohibited to do outdoor activities or even go to malls.
Now that the pandemic seems to be on the wane, at least in the NCR including Makati, Mayor Binay has enjoined parents to register their qualified children for anti-Covid-19 vaccinations.
The city has gone all-out in its vaccination drive for children between 12-17. When the teeners are through with their doses, the younger ones will be next, hopefully before the holiday season.
Thus, a merry Christmas awaits Makatizens.
