SUPPORTING the Education Department’s thrust to make learning accessible to all Filipinos, Globe Business is collaborating with Teach for the Philippines (TFP) in the distribution of connectivity resources to support teachers and students in their continued e-learning.
Through its newly launched “Support A School” program, Globe Business is giving 200 Home Prepaid Wi-Fi modems and 128 Globe MyFi modems to nine schools across the country, along with 200 Globe prepaid cards worth P500 each to 315 public-school teachers and students.
In line with the group’s initiative to pay it forward to the different communities they serve, learning institutions slated to receive the donations include Wawa Elementary School, City Central School, Fr. William F. Masterson Elementary School, Cauayan North Central School, La Paz Elementary School, Cagayan De Oro National High School, Carmen National High School, Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University and Inapoy Elementary School. They are part of Globe Business’ existing network of customers. TFP will identify beneficiaries from each school.
TFP is a for-purpose, nonstock, nonprofit organization working to ensure that all Filipino children benefit from an inclusive, relevant, and excellent education.
“We want our teachers and students to be able to keep up with the demands of the times,” said TFP’s Marketing and Events Director Angel Ramos. “To do this, they must have the right digital tools to overcome the challenges posed by an unprecedented school year mired by a global pandemic.”
The Education Department had earlier emphasized the importance of reaching out to all learners and bringing basic education to them by all means—even if there are no face-to-face classes.
Globe Business MSME Group Vice President KD Dizon shared, “Our [linkage with TFP has been an integral part of our aid] for students and teachers’ adjustment to e-learning. Like our partners, we believe…everyone has a right to quality education. We hope this…will enable more Filipinos in their learning journey.”
