FILIPINO students, academicians, researchers and university officials planning of heading to Europe for quality higher education were a step closer in making their dreams a reality, as the European Higher Education Fair (EHEF) offered opportunities for direct connections with world-class higher education institutions from across the European Union (EU).
“EHEF 2021 [promoted]…diversity and excellence of higher education in the EU,” said Ambassador Luc Véron, as he shared that useful, practical and comprehensive information about the different mobility initiatives and distinctive higher-education programs were made available at the fair.
The EU is one of the world’s top centers of academic excellence, and a hub for cross-fertilization of ideas and cutting-edge technologies and innovation. Outside academia, the region offers opportunities for borderless travel to some of the world’s best and most iconic destinations, and allows immersion to diverse cultures.
The abovementioned holistic experience provided motivation for applicants to “Go Higher with EU,” which was the motto of this year’s fair.
The EU Delegation in the Philippines said EHEF 2021 was the biggest yet, as 140 higher education institutions offered Master’s and PhD courses designed to vastly improve career opportunities of talented Filipinos.
Those who wished to avail of studies in the bloc chose among learning institutions in EU member-states: Belgium, the Czech Republic, Germany, Ireland, Spain, France, Italy, Hungary, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Finland, and Sweden.
The two-day fair was packed with activities, including webinars on specialized courses and programs, country presentations and live chats with representatives, alumni and scholars from participating schools and universities.
This year’s regional partner-institutions included Wesleyan University for Luzon, Silliman University for the Visayas, and Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan for Mindanao. They hosted clustered presentations for students and other members of the academe.
Meanwhile, University of Santo Tomas, Jose Rizal Memorial State University, University of the Cordilleras, Saint Louis University, Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas, Mabalacat City College, Rizal Technological University, Trinity University of Asia, Ateneo de Manila University, Visayas State University, and Mindanao State University’s College of Public Affairs in Marawi City served as university-partners.
EHEF 2021 was supported by Campus Erasmus and the Association of Christian Schools, Colleges and Universities. The virtual fair was also organized with EU member-states’ embassies, education services and Institutes, in collaboration with the Commission on Higher Education. It was streamed live on the EU Delegation to the Philippines Facebook page and at https://www.ehefphilippines.com.
