The Department of Health (DOH) logged a total of 12,805 additional Covid-19 cases on Wednesday, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 2,535,732.
There were also 12,236 recoveries and 186 deaths.
“The relatively low cases today is due to lower laboratory output last Monday (September 27),” the DOH said.
The DOH said that on September 27, 2021, testing output was only 51,377 compared to the 70,134 average daily testing output for the last 7 days.
Of the total number of cases, 5.2 percent (132,339) are active, 93.3 percent (2,365,229) have recovered, and 1.51 percent (38,164) died.
Thirty-eight duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, 27 are recoveries.
Moreover, 120 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.
All laboratories were operational on September 27, 2021 but one lab was not able to submit its data to the Covid-19 Document Repository System (CDRS).
Based on data in the last 14 days, the one non-reporting lab contributes, on average, 0.2 percent of samples tested and 0.3 percent of positive individuals.
Deaths
The Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday reported additional 292 deaths that were part of the backlogs after the experienced technical issues in COVIDKaya.
On September 24 to 26 no deaths were reported and that the DOH opted to “manually encode” data on fatalities.
Moreover, 212 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after validation.
“Please take note that 175 of these recoveries to deaths are part of the 292 deaths added today (Sept.29),” the DOH said.
