I can’t recall the authors, nor the origins, but we children were not allowed to drink coffee as this stunted growth. We instead had tea. Back then, we had tall and short adult relatives. Well, the latter must have drunk coffee when they were kids.
We were not allowed to sleep with wet hair as this would lead to blindness. The oldies had perfect eyesight, with some in their late ages still capably threading needles to darn socks; Very obedient as children, I was told.
We were good at crossing our eyes. The kid who kept eyes crossed the longest was declared winner. Once caught at this game, we received a stern warning that when wind would gush over our crossed eyes these would remain permanent. That’s a dare we never took.
