Dott Seki back ‘in the zone’ with new single, ‘Pinagpala’
We all dig tunes that can make us sway – whether it’s just a mere bobbing of the head or something that compels you to go on a full-on, sweating-it-out routine.
So, you play it in a loop and keep grooving to it, except that very few songs really have the power to get you to stay still and just be in the zone. The kind where you feel that it had become personal, that it was written just for you. The kind where you feel that a relationship between you and that track had been formed. The kind when, if you but miss just one beat from that song, you have to; you got to; you need to start over; focus and just let the entire song flow into you.
Dott Seki’s new single, “Pinagpala, is exactly all that. It’s not just any track, it’s an experience.
“Pinagpala” is Dott’s first single, co-written by Sazee Cosino of Mayrics fame. The track is also a part of his upcoming album called Echo Location.
Give yourselves a treat and allow yourselves to ride this ditty – swirl on the ambient path paved for us by its guitar sound and use Dott’s melismatic voice as your guide. The song was crafted to make the listeners really connect to the music and, at the same time, reconnect with their emotions. So, if you feel like crying, don’t hold back and bawl away. If you feel like swaying, don’t just bob your head – shut your eyes and escape with it.
This is not your typical OPM track. Dott Seki was able to unearth the sound of 90s greats such as Pale Saints and Cocteau Twins but with vocal stylings uniquely his. Not everyone has the gall to send out something different, something not everyone is used to but he creates this.
Tayo talaga ay “Pinagpala.” Who knows, maybe this is the beginning of a different OPM sound, a whole dimension where you can easily tune in, zone out and relate to at the same.
This is the perfect song to get locked in this coming lockdown. One that would float you to oblivion, slowly easing your way into Dott’s cosmic soundworld. And I have Dott Seki to thank for this. Looking forward to what’s next from this creative genius.
Dudez Perez-Ignacio loves to stimulate minds. If she isn’t out there writing thought-provoking and challenging pieces, she’d translate her thoughts into photography. Her writing nook is a makeshift aquarium stand with a wooden board on top that is stacked with literature, a bottle of absinthe, and photos of her kids. This is her paradise. It is where she finds freedom. Writing sets her free.
