At the height of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) in Metro Manila where only one person per household can go out to get food and medical supplies, 2GO Express, the first and last mile fulfillment partner, and the courier solutions provider of 2GO Group Inc., heeded the market’s call for an on-demand same-day delivery service of essential goods via 2GO Hyperlocal.
2GO Retail Operations Manager Randy Zafra recalled, “There were several customers looking for this kind of solution, especially during the lockdown last year. The first time we launched the service, we were delivering to any part of Metro Manila, but we did not have enough time to fulfill all deliveries. Therefore, we finetuned the hyperlocal model with WalterMart Makati and served customers within the 5 km to 8 km radius.”
2GO Express, having a fleet of over 800 motorcycles nationwide, deployed assigned couriers in Makati to dispatch goods, and conveniently serve the community for their grocery needs.
With WalterMart Supermarket’s online platform, WalterMart.com, customers are offered a wide selection of fresh products to choose from and are given full control to manage their orders from the comforts of their home. WalterMart Delivery then picks and packs the items to be turned over to onsite dispatchers of 2GO Express for organization of addresses, routes, and delivery.
Cashless payment options are available on WalterMart’s website. On the other hand, cash-ondelivery and credit card transactions are accommodated upon delivery, “WalterMart lends us their wireless terminals in which customers can swipe their credit cards upon receipt of orders.”
Since its soft launch, WalterMart has been serving hundreds of homes for their household needs with the help of 2GO Hyperlocal to fulfill the deliveries. Zafra said, “Finally, we were able to come up with a viable pilot project together with WalterMart, and we are looking to serve WalterMart North Edsa next, and possibly provincial locations in Central Luzon like WalterMart Carmona, Cavite, and WalterMart Sta. Maria, Bulacan.”
According to WalterMart Supermarket’s Head of Delivery Victor Paul Intal, “Last mile delivery is key in serving WalterMart.com customers with fresh staples and essential groceries for their same-day needs. Finding the right logistics partner that is reliable and able to serve the growing customer base is an important component for us in choosing to work with 2GO.”
Meanwhile, 2GO Hyperlocal has started carrying out deliveries for SM Supermarket. As per Zafra, the team is planning to deploy larger vehicles, which are “an ideal solution” to dispatch more and bigger items in a single trip to serve the respective communities.
For interisland shipments, 2GO Express now offers the best lead times in delivering documents and parcels from Manila to major cities in Visayas and Mindanao in as fast as a day or three via express delivery.
“We leverage on our broad network of over 2,800 company-owned stores and authorized agents in strategic locations, supported by a transportation fleet of motor couriers and trucks, including 10 vessels sailing to 20 major ports of call in the country. With reliable schedules and trip frequencies, 2GO makes same-day and next-day delivery possible across the archipelago,” Zafra concluded.

This is the worst courier service I have ever come across. Our company arranged for an urgent express delivery, we paid 10,000 pesos. The parcel was picked up 20/07. We were advised that it would be delivered 23/07. The parcel did not even leave the pick up depot until 23/07! We called all afternoon on 23/07 to find out whether the urgent package would arrive and we have been unable to contact anybody. The customer service lines are constantly engaged from opening time to closing time. Their tracking system does not work. We decided to have 5 people calling from 8am on 24/07 and finally somebody answered. We were told the package only left the pick up depot on the day it should have been delivered. They could not even confirm if it actually arrived at the Manila warehouse. We asked when can we expect the parcel to be delivered and the reply was “some time next week”. This was supposed to be an express delivery. BEWARE!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. THEIR SERVICE IS ABSOLUTELY USELESS.
