The Department of Health (DOH) told the public to continue wearing face shields to protect them against the virus.
Dr. Alethea de Guzman, Epidemiology Bureau Director of the DOH, said the country needs to achieve “certain milestones” before the current minimum public health standards could be revised.
Compared to other countries, De Guzman said cases in the Philippines are still increasing.
She added that the vaccine rollout in the country should also achieve its target coverage of the priority population groups.
Earlier, Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso suggested that the use of face shield should be stopped already.
The mayor said that face shield is an additional burden to the people.
But de Guzman reiterated: “Alam ko hindi madali, hindi convenient yung naka face shield ka [I know wearing of face shield is not easy]…But this is one of the things that we need right now [as an additional protection].”
