No stranger to social media controversies, Angelica Panganiban once again became a trending topic after ranting about the Philippine Red Cross in Subic in her Twitter account.
Based on her tweets, the 34-year old actress was at the swabbing facility of the Subic chapter of the Red Cross last Tuesday, May 25, to get tested for Covid-19. But after what she described as several hours of waiting in the parking, Angelica got peeved and decided to tweet about her getting the cold shoulder from the Red Cross and even suggested that those who arrived in the venue much later than her were given preferential treatment.
In her last of three tweets about the incident, Angelica went on to share her previous swabbing experience with the Red Cross where she claims that she received an email that she tested positive for Covid even though her attached result revealed she was negative. She further alleged that that faux pas happened in all of Olongapo City even though the Red Cross people did apologize “after 12 hours.”
Angelica’s tweets did not escape the attention of netizens including Red Cross frontliner Mark (@iammarkyy_) who was one of those who attended to her in a previous swabbing and apparently personally swabbed her companion.
Mark did not identify Angelica’s companion. The actress’s presence in Subic, however, may be linked to her current non-showbiz boyfriend, Gregg Holman who is reportedly involved in Bay Marine Subic, a company that designs and leases aluminum boats and landing crafts, as well as Mangrove Resort Hotel, a boutique hotel located in Olongapo, Zambales.
Based on Mark’s tweets, however, Angelica apparently did not set an appointment before going to the swabbing facility and those that were swabbed ahead of her were already ill or were brought there by an ambulance.
Other netizens took exception to Angelica’s tweets especially after Mark’s reply, with many underscoring her insensitivity towards the medical frontliners.
Aneglica has been involved in her fair share of controversies in the past, one of the most infamous of which was when she shared a photo of herself at the Holocaust Memorial in Berlin, Germany with the caption with the caption, “Kabibili ko nga lang pala ng bansang ito [ayon] sa OOTD ko. Tabi! Dadaan ang madam!”
After getting flak for her post, the actress promptly apologized in a series of tweets and said she will use this “as a learning experience” on the things she posts.
The social media accounts of the Philippine Red Cross and its chairman, Senator Richard Gordon, have not issued a statement nor commented on Angelica’s tweets.
