The “pink” supermoon was photographed by Grade 9 student Nathan Bangtuan using a children’s telescope with 40 times magnification that was attached to her cell-phone camera.
The supermoon was not colored pink, but it was tagged as such because it appeared when the pink wildflower in North America blooms during spring.
A supermoon appears bigger and brighter than the usual full moon because it is at its closest to Earth. The next supermoons will be on May 25 and June 24.
