President Rodrigo R. Duterte created another office to streamline government processes aside from the existing Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA).
On Tuesday, Duterte issued Executive Order No. 129, which created the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Streamlining Government Offices (OPASGP).
The office will be led by the Presidential Adviser on Streamlining of Government Processes (PASGP), who will have the rank of Cabinet Secretary.
“The OPASGP shall be deemed dissolved upon separation from service of the PASGP,” Duterte said in three-paged EO 129.
The newly created office will coordinate with ARTA to come out with evidence-based policies, programs, measures and strategies that will further simplify processes and cut red tape in the Executive branch of the government and local government units.
It will also be authorized to monitor compliance in anti-red tape policies and recommend to the President sanctions against erring government officials and personnel.
“All heads of executive departments and agencies are also hereby directed to fully cooperate with the PASGP to the extend consistent with their respective mandates,” Duterte said.
The funding for the OPASGP will be taken from the Offices of the President.
As of Tuesday, Duterte has yet to announced whom he will appoint as PASGP.
