PRESIDENTIAL spokesman Harry Roque is now hospitalized after being reinfected with Covid-19.
“I am now admitted in a hospital for Covid-19 treatment,” Roque said in a statement on Saturday.
He made the pronouncement following news reports that he was confined in the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) during the weekend so he can be given non-invasive breathing support.
Roque earlier underwent quarantine after his swab test results showed he was infected with Covid-19 on March 15, 2021. He finally tested negative for infection on March 25, 2021.
Roque was trying to have himself inoculated from Covid-19 due to his high risk from the disease. He is diabetic and has a heart ailment.
“I am asking for your sincerest prayers to all afflicted with Covid-19 in the country and around the world,” Roque said.
Nevertheless, Roque said he will continue with his duties as spokesman of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF).
“I will announce the risk classification of the National Capital Region Plus Bubble which will be discussed in the IATF meeting today (April 10),” Roque said.
Roque is among the latest Cabinet secretaries to be infected with Covid-19 after Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana.
Malacañang was placed under lockdown and the movement of President Duterte limited after several members of the Presidential Security Group were also reported to be infected last week.
Palace officials and Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go insisted that Duterte remains in good condition despite the spread of infection at the Malacañang complex in Manila.
