Police authorities rescued four kidnapped Chinese nationals and arrested 11 suspected kidnappers in a series of operations on Wednesday evening in Quezon City and Pampanga.
Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Debold Sinas said the successful kidnap rescue operation was the result of coordinated efforts by the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG) and the Anti-Kidnapping Action Committee (AKAK) in taking immediate action to the reported kidnapping case of a Chinese woman.
“This successful kidnap rescue operation only goes to show the dedication and commitment of the PNP against organized crime,” the chief PNP said.
Citing reports of PNP-AKG chief, Brig. Gen. Jonel Estomo, Sinas said the Chinese woman was rescued at a medical diagnostics clinic along N.S. Amoranto Ave, Quezon City at 6 p.m. through the information provided to AKG by the supervisor of the establishment who told investigators that the victim is scheduled to undergo RT-PCR test as a requirement for airline travel.
AKG agents immediately rushed to the clinic and rescued the victim from her three captors identified as Liang Khai Chean, 28, Malaysian; Mou Yun Peng, 35, Chinese; and Benjie Labor, 43, Filipino.
In her debriefing, the rescued Chinese revealed that there are several other kidnap victims being held at a safehouse where she was detained in Barangay Sta. Cruz, Mexico, Pampanga.
Sinas said, AKG-AKAK operatives lost no time in launching a rescue operation hours later at 10:30 p.m. through the information provided by the victim on the exact location of the safehouse.
Three more kidnapped Chinese victims were rescued, while eight suspects, two Chinese and six Filipinos, were arrested.
AKG investigators are still establishing the true identities of the arrested suspects. 30
