Over 18,000 jobs are now available in Mindanao making it one of the most promising sites in the country in terms of employment opportunities, according to job search site, JobStreet.
The vacancies were registered by Jobstreet in Davao, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) and Northern Mindanao.
“Parts of Mindanao show some hopes as their jobs increased despite the pandemic with more than 18,000 job increases in government opportunities,” Jobstreet said in a statement.
Last year, the BARMM government, which is currently in the process of being formed, announced it is hiring 2,000 workers to be employed by its offices.
Ongoing recovery
JobStreet Philippines Country Manager Philip Gioca said they are optimistic that similar employment trend will develop in other parts in the country as more businesses recover from the economic slowdown caused by the novel coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic last year.
He reiterated the the number of job posts they received has already started to pick up as early as the third quarter of 2020 as the government eases is quarantine restrictions.
“Some industries’ job volumes have grown in the last quarter, including Aviation/Aircraft Maintenance (+179 percent), sales and financial services (+94 percent), merchandising (+69 percent), advertising/media planning (+55), and biomedical (+52 percent),” Jobstreet said.
Active hirers
For this month, Jobstreet most or 23 percent of the companies, which remain actively hiring in its platform are call center/Information technology-enabled services/business process outsourcing (BPO).
It was followed by the government/defense category (21 percent); human resources management/consulting (12 percent); education (9 percent); and computer/information technology software (5 percent).
The trend is consistent with the forecast of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) of industries will remain key employment generators (KEG) despite the pandemic.
These include the IT-BPO, construction, and the government.
