UE Jam Sessions, the music organization of the University East, recently launched the music video for the acoustic version of ‘Lalaban Tayo’ featuring chart-topping rapper, Gloc-9.
The original single champions the Filipino people’s unwavering spirit of bayanihan in solidarity with the health frontliners at the height of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
In the latest music video, the UE Jam Sessions delivers a subdued but empowering take on its own anthemic ode to the struggles of health workers while UE-student dancers appear throughout the video interpreting the song with subtle emotion and delicate grace.
“I love how the efforts of 158 young students produced something as creative as this project. They are very talented and you can really see how they all brought out their passion for the music video especially that it is intended for a great cause,” executive producer Tommy Tanchanco said.
Gloc-9 himself expressed his appreciation for the music organization. His post on social media on the audio track carried the caption, “Salamat sa UE Jam Sessions for this collaboration.”
The premier Pinoy rapper added, “I’m always open to collaborations. I welcome the opportunity to lend my skills as an indie artist to laudable projects like the UE Jam Sessions honoring the unsung heroes of the Covid-19 pandemic.”
Songwriter Jenny Legapi, an AB Communications freshman, said, “Sobrang nagandahan po ako sa acoustic version of the song. Damang dama po yung bawat linya ng kanta at nakakatuwang mapakinggan lalo na po kung bago sa pandinig. Mas nakaka lift up po ng spirit.
“It’s an honor din po to have someone like Gloc-9 collaborating with us. Sobrang swak po yung lines na idinagdag niya. “
In a collective statement posted on social media, UE Jam Sessions dedicated the song also to the people behind the outreach programs and donation drives, and those who offered voluntary services.
The group shared, “We salute and applaud your continuous dedication to serve our fellow countrymen during this difficult time. Thank you for all the sacrifices you made over the past months. Lalaban at lalaban pa rin tayo.”
The acoustic audio track was initially launched on Apple Music, Spotify and Deezer while the accompanying music video debuted on YouTube last Sunday, 7pm.
