ONE of the few things I like about online events, aside from having the privilege to stay home for it, is that when celebrities are involved, you get to see a different side to them.
Now that they don’t have a fleet of stylists, makeup artists, assistants and hairdressers behind their public appearances, celebrities are more relatable.
They aren’t as impeccably styled as they usually are, and that’s okay.
The events that have transpired in the past few months have also made them more candid in sharing their views and opinions.
Tiger Crackers recently held a Snack Hack extravaganza on YouTube with Kim Chiu and Robi Domingo teaming up with Bettina Carlos and Chef Gerick Manalo to show how to make creative dishes using the crackers on recipes, such as Mango Hazelnut Dessert Pizza and Beef Nacho Crackers.
After the event, there was a Zoom interview with Kim, Robi, Bettina and Kristine Enriquez, brand manager of Tiger Biscuit from Mondelez Philippines.
The event and interviews took place just after Typhoon Ulysses hit the country and naturally, the stars were asked about it, among other things.
“What we’re experiencing right now is really the effect of climate change. In the long run, marami pang mangyayaring ganito [things like these will continue to happen] if we don’t stop our ways, if we don’t change our lifestyle, if we don’t have environmental policies. So we have to do something for the environment right now,” said Robi.
He also urged people, particularly the youth, to register to vote in the 2022 elections, citing statistics from the recent US elections where a record number of young people voted. “You better register to vote, lalong-lalo na ang kabataan [especially the youth]. You have to do that. Right now, the wheels are turning, the gears are turning, and I bet it will turn for the betterment of our society.”
Kim, meanwhile, shared some thoughts about the things she learned during quarantine. “Luxury stuff like bags and shoes aren’t that important pala. Mas importante ang tao [people are more important]. When I go to the grocery, ’yung importante lang talaga binibili ko [I just buy the important things],” said the actress.
For Bettina, being quarantined has given her more time to spend with her daughter Gummy, who she realized is a very compassionate human being.
Robi said he sees the pandemic not as a great equalizer but as a “great magnifier.”
“Being quarantined has made me more involved. You dont have to be a politician to care about your country.”
During the event proper, Kristine Enriquez explained that the crackers are baked using a special kind of technology that gives them a crispy, melt-in-your-mouth texture. Also, there are only 120 calories in each pack of Tiger Crackers.
You can recreate the Beef Nacho Crackers and Mango Hazelnut Dessert Pizza with Tiger Crackers sets.
