It has often been said that the only constant thing in life is change. And with the COVID-19 pandemic still ongoing, the workplace was forced to adapt quicker to the changing times or be swept away. Suddenly remote work is the norm and the primary mode of communication has become emails and video calls. While daunting at first, most people have adjusted to the best of their abilities, proving that while change may be daunting, it is possible with the right resources.
In lieu of this, cloud collaboration platform Lark launched its New Normal Business Council and Mentorship program to actively help Filipino entrepreneurs through the new normal. As an avid supporter of business growth and sustainability, Lark considers it a personal mission to help owners and stakeholders alike to navigate this new way of working.
Kicking off this new endeavor is a series of webinars entitled “Lark your way to success; a webinar series for business growth and sustainability”, which will run throughout November and December 2020. The three part series will premiere this coming November 10, November 24 and December 3 on Lark’s official YouTube channel.
The webinars will feature esteemed speakers such as Mercato Centrale co-founder RJ Ledesma, entrepreneurs Francis J. Kong and Carlo Ople, among many others. Through these webinars, they hope to encourage others to “harness the power of technology to succeed amidst difficulties.”
During the launch held last November 5, Lark Vice President Joy Lim shared that the Philippines is “primed for growth”, with an impressive 6.4 percent growth rate, one of the highest in the world.
“We at Lark want to do our part to help in this journey,” she said, “We want to help small and medium enterprises to embrace the new digital technologies and methodologies in addition to coming to terms with the new normal,”
She also shared the results of a report conducted by Lark, which showed that businesses who are doing well during the pandemic are the ones who are “most agile in terms of adapting new technologies and methodologies such as remote work, robust digital collaboration tools and planning for business continuity.”
With this in mind, Lark Philippines determined that for businesses to not only survive, but thrive in the new normal, they have to employ three things; adapting to technology, creating a new mindset and exercising patience. Under the new normal and the time after it, Lark recommends that companies have to be fluid in terms of technology and “understand the separation of responsibility and choice by giving autonomy to individual workers.” This means that individual employees are given choices in how they want to work, whether in a normal office setting or remotely. Studies have shown that giving employees a choice empowers them and makes them happier and more open to feedback.
“It is time to create a new mindset, where the future of work relies on intertwined partnership rather than purely market-driven relationships,” she said.
