Starting next month, the Commission on Election (Comelec) will hold voter registration Monday to Friday.
In a statement, Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez explained they decided to change the schedule of their weekly registration to give them time to disinfect all of the Offices of the Election Officer nationwide every Saturday.
He said the new schedule will take effect on Nov. 9, 2020.
Since the resumption of voter registration on Sept. 1, 2020, the schedule of voter registration is from Tuesday to Saturday.
Comelec also announced it will be suspending its voter registration on Oct. 31, 2020 in observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Days.
“Voter registration will resume the following Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2020,” the poll body said.
Jimenez reminded that minimum health standards, which include wearing of face mask and face shield, will be mandatory during voter registrations.
He also noted that voter registration in areas still under localized Enhanced Community Quarantine will remain suspended pursuant of the Comelec en banc Resolution No. 10674.
