Roger Pogoy shook off an ankle sprain injury to score 30 points and help TNT Tropang Giga overcome a 14-point deficit to beat Phoenix Super LPG, 110-91, on Monday in the Philippine Basketball Association Philippine Cup at the Angeles University Foundation gym in Pampanga.
Traiking 26-40 in the first half, the Tropang Giga leaned on Pogoy’s huge 20 points output in the next two quarters to outscore the Fuel Masters—30-14 and 35-23—and stretch their record to four wins.
“The kid really wants to play,” said TNT coach Ferdinand “Bong” Ravena of Pogoy, who sprained his right ankle last Friday in the fourth quarter of TNT’s 107-88 win over defending champion San Miguel Beer.
Center John Paul Erram racked up 18 points and hauled down 15 rebounds, while Simon Enciso (13), Bobby Ray Parks Jr. (12), Jeth Troy Rosario (11), Ryan Reyes (11) and Jayson Castro (10) all scored in double figures for TNT.
Matthew Wright finished with 31 points to lead the Fuel Masters, who dropped to 2-1 won-lost.
