THE Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) restarted its season on Sunday and the Philippines Football League (PFL) resumes on October 24.
Both professional leagues will be playing in a bubble. The bubble supposedly will allow these professional athletes to focus more on the task at hand which is to end the year strong by winning their respective league titles.
The PBA reportedly spent P65 million to organize and set up the bubble. The PFL has a ready facility to house all six teams.
It’ll be interesting to see how these players will deal with possible mental health issues that may arise as a result of being away from their families and the pressure of winning day-in and day-out.
Both leagues will have short tournaments which means there won’t be a whole lot of margin for error so every point, possession and win will count.
The return of both sports brings back a sense of normalcy to our daily lives which was robbed by the outbreak. We’re sure that both leagues pulled out all the stops and spared no expense in bringing back their games and matches to millions of viewers all over the archipelago.
Best of luck to both leagues. May they both enjoy an infection free resumption of their respective seasons and that for at least for two to three hours, they make us forget about a disease that’s changed the very fiber of the way we live.
