When he began writing songs in 2017, Michael Catarina also became a staple of several songwriting competitions. This year, his persistence paid off when he was named as among the finalists from Visayas and Mindanao for his song, “Hinungdan.”
The unassuming young lad, however, still considers himself an amateur as he hasn’t fully produced any of his songs yet and he believes he still has a long way to go before he can fully developed his composing skills.
Gracing SoundStrip Live Online, Michael is performing an acoustic ballad called “Mamasin” which he says is a song about a guy who is seeking a second chance with a former flame.
The PhilPop Songwriting Festival 2020 is an initiative of the PhilPop Music Foundation, chaired by Manny V. Pangilinan. This year’s PhilPop is co-presented by SMART, MERALCO, and MAYNILAD, with official partners, Warner Music Philippines, Kadasig,and MinPop. Finals night is happening this November 14.
