IN an effort to contribute to the Philippines’s fight against the pandemic, the Rotary Club of Japan donated 144,000 face shields which were received by the Philippine Consulate General in Nagoya.

In a message to Deputy Consul General in Nagoya Jerome Castro, Rotary Club of Nagoya-Wago Chairman Tetsuzo Fukuda informed that the fully loaded 40-foot container is set to set sail for the Philippines in the third week of September from the Port of Nagoya.

For his part, Ambassador of the Philippines to Japan Jose Laurel V said the donation was sparked by the Rotary Club of Japan’s wish to contribute to the protection of the health of Filipinos during the pandemic through the auspices of Health Secretary Francisco T. Duque III and the Rotary Club of the Philippines, particularly the Rotary Club of Quezon City.

Laurel hailed the gesture as one more concrete expression of the brotherly ties between Filipinos and the Japanese, as both nations continue to battle the spread of the deadly virus.
