Power Pop sextet My Ex-Girlfriend has just released their latest music video for their new single “Sawicide” released by ABS-CBN’s Star Music.
The new video, a collaboration between the band, their immediate family, and friends, is inspired by all activities and everyday routine that we deal with as we cope with the pandemic. Most of the videos were submitted to the band as the group also did their own versions of quarantined musicians, trying to make the best of the pandemic inside their own homes.
“Sawicide”, the new single’s title – though a pun of “sawi” which in Tagalog means “loser” – is a feel-good song. The band prods listeners to push on despite drawbacks in life: “‘Wag sanang magagalit / kung laging sumasabit / ganyan lang ang buhay sa mundo.”
“Gusto lang namin sumaya naman mga tao kasi ang depressing na e,” the band’s guitarist Drix Garchitorena said, who also directed most of the band’s previous video. “Alangan naman magmukmok ka na lang ‘di ba? Kaya sana sumaya ‘yung mga makakapanood ng video,” Ernie Bangiban, the bassist and the single’s songwriter adds.
The new single was released on August 28, 2020 and is now available to stream on Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer and other digital platforms.
