The Department of Transportation (DOTr) reported on Wednesday that the East Extension Project of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 2 is 92.14-percent complete.
In an advisory, the department said that given its pace, the whole extension should be fully operational by April 2021.
The project, which is being implemented by DM Consunji Inc. (DMCI), involves the construction of a 4-kilometer extension of the existing LRT 2 System from Santolan, Pasig City, to Masinag in Antipolo, Rizal.
Two additional stations will be built, namely, the Emerald station, which will be located in front of Robinsons Metro East and Santa Lucia in Cainta; and Rizal and Masinag stations, which will be located before the Masinag Junction in Antipolo City.
It will cut travel time between Masinag, Antipolo and Recto, Manila to only 40 minutes, which according to the department is “faster compared to the three hours via bus or jeepney.”
