Locally stranded individuals (LSIs) bound for Western Visayas as well as Iligan and Lanao Del Sur would have to wait before being allowed to travel.
This after the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) issued its Resolution No. 69, series of 2020 suspending inbound travel of LSIs in the said areas.
“The moratorium is effective only for 14 days from September 7 until September 21, 2020,” Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said in a statement.
Chief implementer of the government’s national policy on Covid-19 Carlito Galvez made the recommendation to IATF amid the rising novel coronavirus disease cases (Covid-19) in the said areas.
On Monday, President Rodrigo R. Duterte included the city of Bacolod and Lanao Del Sur among the areas under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) together with Iligan City because of the increasing infections in the said areas.
The three areas will remain under MECQ up to Sept. 30, 2020.
Galvez noted that the available critical care for Covid patients in Bacolod city is now dangerously low because of its rising infection cases, which is now is now even higher than Iligan City.
He said he will be leaving for Bacolod City on Wednesday so he can coordinate in the construction of additional quarantine facilities there.
The National Task Force Against Covid-19 (NTF) to “normalize” the situation in Bacolod City and other areas in Negros Island by the end of Sept., according to Galvez.
