The number of government employees who were infected with the novel coronavirus disease (Covid-19) has breached the 18,000 mark.
As of Wednesday, the Civil Service Commission (CSC) said 18,102 public servants were afflicted with the virus.
This was 75 percent higher compared to the 10,344 cases on Aug. 5, 2020.
Based from the latest CSC data, most or 13,430 of these cases were found in the National Capital Region (NCR), Region 7 (2,394); and Region 4 (780).
The Philippine Coast Guard also reported 797 of its personnel were afflicted with Covid-19. Of which, 181 are still active cases, while the other 616 already recovered from the infection.
CSC also registered 17,533 government workers, who are suspected with Covid-19. These cases were concentrated in NCR (10,036); Region 7 (3,71); and Region 4 (1,983).
The number of government agencies, which went under lockdown because of Covid-19 increased to 196 from 153 last week.
