Hugot Princess Anna Aquino is back with a new single scheduled for release this August 28.
Anna says the song, “Kung Sabagay,” was written way back in 2013. “This is actually one of my first original songs. It tells a story of a girl ghosted by a guy she’s been with for more than a year. While reminiscing their times together, she realized that there’s always been a problem in their relationship but she chose to deny and ignore it,” Anna elaborates.
The singer-songwriter added that “Kung Sabagay” is “the kind of song you can listen to when you are ready to move on from that relationship.” It can now be pre-saved on your Spotify, Deezer and Apple Music.
Performing her own songs since the age of 15, Anna started her professional music career in 2016 and was a regular fixture during bar gigs and open mic nights.
Over the years, Anna was able to perform with the likes of Join The Club, Soapdish, I Belong To The Zoo, Brisom, Jem Cubil, Jana Garcia and Calein. As part of her development, Anna also attended both the FILSCAP and PhilPop songwriting bootcamps where her mentors included Jungee Marcelo, Rico Blanco, Quest and Trina Belamide. In 2019, she also performed at the Wish 107.5 Roadshow.
On Spotify, Anna currently has two released songs, “Biglaan” from 2019 and just early this year, “Unti-Unti” released by Bandmate Distro, a division of Downorth Musique.
Anna also recently graced SoundStrip Live & in Quarantine with another one of her original songs, “Distansya.”
Also released by Bandmate Distro, “Kung Sabagay” remains a fine example of her songwriting style that emphasizes her flair for storytelling. Matched by a lovely voice that has the discipline to ramp up and temper the hugot factor when needed, Anna Aquino remains one of the most intriguing young artists to watch out for.
