At least 245 pregnant patients were confirmed to be Covid-19 positive, the Department of Health (DOH) said, as Philippines recorded 3,462 new infections on Wednesday bringing the total tally to 115, 980.
As of 4 p.m. of August 05, the DOH also recovered 223 recoveries. The total number of recovered patients has also increased to 66, 270.
To protect the pregnant patients,, the DOH said that under the Department Memorandum 2020-0261 entitled Interim Guidelines on the Continuous Provision of Maternal Health Services during Covid -19 Pandemic, there are service provisions for them.
“All pregnant patients are recommended to have primary care facility for triaging, via telemedicine, if available,” the DOH said.
Asymptomatic pregnant with close contact shall undergo home quarantine for 14 days or to Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility (TTMF) for quarantine for 14 days.
Symptomatic pregnant ( mild classified as suspect, probable, or confirmed ) Covid-19 case shall go to TTMF for 14-day isolation or Level 1 Hospital or Infirmary or home isolation provided with clearance from the patient’s attending physicians; symptomatic pregnant (severe or critical classified as suspect, probable, or confirmed) or symptomatic pregnant mild classified as suspect, probable, or confirmed Covid-19 case plus with any co-morbidities should proceed to Covid-19 Referral Hospital or Covid-19 accepting Level 2 or Level 3 Hospital.
For clinically recovered pregnant suspect, probable or confirmed Covid-19 case awaiting completion of quarantine period can be accommodated in all Level 1 Hospital Infirmary, or TTMF selected for step-down care.
Meanwhile, of the 3,462 reported cases today, 2,919 (84 percent) occurred within the recent 14 days (July 23-August 5, 2020).
The top regions with cases in the recent two weeks were NCR ( 2,083 or 71 percent) Region 4A ( 299 or 10 percent), and Region 3 ( 96 or 3 percent).
Nine deaths were reported. There were 2, 123 persons who succumbed to the disease.
Of the 9 deaths, 8 (89 percent) happened in July, and 1 (11 percent) in June. Deaths were from National Capital Region (4 or 44 percent) Region 7 (4 or 44 percent) and Region 11 (1 or 11 percent)
