As part of BusinessMirror’s campaign to promote everyone’s safety and well-being during the global health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, we have invited established and independent artists to perform at least one song in their own homes while urging everyone to stay indoors.
Although still fairly new to the music scene, singer-songwriter Dionela has been very passionate about music ever since he started singing in church since he was a kid.
Citing Lukas Graham, Queen and Bruno Mars as among his influences, Dionela defines his brand of soulful pop as “electro-coustic,” a combination of both electronic and acoustic.
Since signing with Sindikato Management and later, Sony Music Philippines, he has released several singles starting with his debut, “Tears.” His most popular song to date is “Agaw” which has generated over 150,000 views in YouTube. Dionela currently has over 51,000 monthly listeners on Spotify.
For his SoundStrip Live & in Quarantine session, Dionela, together with his band, is performing his latest single, “Gone” which according to him is “all about someone you want to be with, but it’s not possible anymore, coz she’s too far away, she’s gone.”
“Forgiving is fine but forgetting is not easy. Leaving a person behind is not that simple. You make good memories together, build dreams in the future, then suddenly the other half doesn’t want it anymore. That’s painful,” he further explained. Watch and listen to Dionela’s “Gone.”
