As part of BusinessMirror’s campaign to promote everyone’s safety and well-being during the global health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, we have invited established and independent artists to perform at least one song in their own homes while urging everyone to stay indoors.
With over 1.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify, Filipino-Irish singer-songwriter Travis Atreo has been lighting up the popular digital music platform with hits like “Clean,” “Should Have Been Us,” “Somehow,” “Bless The Broken Road,” and “All I Ask.”
According to a 2017 feature on the blog site, Angry Asian Man, Travis was born in the Philippines on a US military base but immediately moved to the US. For a long time, he was based in Seattle, Washington where he became the lead singer of the band, New Heights.
He later moved to Los Angeles, California where in addition to being a singer-songwriter, he also became a record producer and audio engineer not just for his own music but also for recordings by other artists. He also started composing for short films.
For SoundStrip Live & in Quarantine, Travis has submitted a video of a recent performance of a song called “Love Drunk,” the title track from his album of the same title released only last February.
Travis says the soulful ballad reminds him a lot of “high school dance and those nostalgic moments when you’re starting to fall for someone.”
