As part of BusinessMirror’s campaign to promote everyone’s safety and well-being during the global health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, we have invited established and independent artists to perform at least one song in their own homes while urging everyone to stay indoors.
Formed in early 2019, MarsMango is a five-piece atmospheric pop band based in Quezon City and composed of Francesca Muyrong on vocals, Emil Reoma on lead guitars and vocals, James Canoso on drums, Jeanne Cariño on rhythms, and Kim Pesimo on bass.
Through their first two singles, “Nasa’n Ka, Oh Luna” and their latest release, “Sa Panaginip” released by Sony Music Philippines, the band specializes in dreamy pop with a cosmic, atmospheric and even psychedelic vibe. With a style reminiscent of popular 90s band, Sugar Hiccup and engaging ambient hooks that at times recall, dare we say it, The Beatles’ classic album, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, MarsMango is emerging as one of OPM best-kept secrets.
In performing the epic-sounding “Sa Panaginip” for SoundStrip Live & in Quarantine, the band explains that while “the past is a wonderful and enchanting place to go back to, facing the truth of the present will make one realize that life has more to give.”
Given the music that they’ve already unleashed since last year, MarsMango is a band that has plenty more to give. We can’t wait to hear from them again. For now, let’s all feel free to check them out on Spotify, YouTube, and other digital/streaming platforms.
