As part of BusinessMirror’s campaign to promote everyone’s safety and well-being during the global health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, we have invited established and independent artists to perform at least one song in their own homes while urging everyone to stay indoors.
Migz Haleco is a Manila-based singer-songwriter who first came to prominence when he reached the semi-finals of the popular talent search program, Talentadong Pinoy. He was then launched as part of the acoustic pop duo, Migz and Maya who scored a huge hit in 2016 with “Ambon,” the theme song of the blockbuster romantic drama, How To Be Yours starring Bea Alonzo and Gerald Anderson. The song’s music video has generated over 2.1 views to date on YouTube.
The following year, Migz parted ways with Maya and embarked on a solo career with the release of his debut album, This which yielded the hits, “Pag Ika’y Nagmahal” and “Pare, Tama Na.”
That same year, Migz scored the biggest hit with “Bes,” a song written and arranged by Eric de Leon for the Himig Handog 2017 music competition that earned over 1.4 million views on YouTube.
Migz released one more single, “Walang Alinlangan” in 2019 before taking a self-imposed hiatus. This year, a fully recharged Migz is ready to pick up where he left off with the release of his new single, “Liwanag,” an acoustic rendition of which he is performing for SoundStrip Live & in Quarantine.
Known for his alternative pop style and guitar playing which he says is heavily influenced by the likes of John Mayer and Eric Clapton, Migz says “Liwanag” is based on the things he went though last year that many people can relate to, especially those confined to their homes as a result of the lockdowns prompted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Distributed by DITTO Music, Migz Haleco’s “Liwanag” is now available on Spotify, iTunes and Apple Music.
