As part of BusinessMirror’s campaign to promote everyone’s safety and well-being during the global health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, we have invited established and independent artists to perform at least one song in their own homes while urging everyone to stay indoors.
Krista was a self-taught guitar player whose passion for singing also began when she was only 10. By 12, she was already writing her own songs. In 2012, she fronted for the Teleserye Concert featuring Coco Martin, Eric Santos, Cristine Reyes and Xian Lim.
This Culimary Arts major went on to headline her first solo gig in Lipa and started her music career as an acoustic guitar playing bars in Metro Manila and Batangas. By 2017, she was a member of the Doz Carta Band and the following, started the Primano Band with her cousins and entered battle of the bands competitions including Red Horse’s prestigious Musiklaband.
Two songs written by Krista for Primano, “Basura” and “Mali Tayo” are now accessible via Spotify and YouTube. Now 29, Krista remained a sought after attraction in the bar circuit in her home province and the metropolis until the pandemic struck. Her live repertoire consists of current favorites as well as classics from the 1970s to the 1980s.
Gracing this edition of SoundStrip Live & in Quarantine, Krista performs her original song, “Take Me,” which she says is about her “personal realizations on what’s going on in the world right now.”
“This pandemic made me realize that we should never take life for granted,” she conceded.
